Molly Jo Blankenship
Molly is a native of Oklahoma with a bachelor’s degree in Animal Science from Oklahoma State University. She is now a member of Green Country Watercolor Society (GCWS) and Focal Point Artists Studio and Gallery. Molly’s art education is through independent study supplemented by art workshops with Pat Weaver, Sterling Edwards, Ken Hosmer, Betty Shaw, Carol Cooper,Marlene Gremillion, Sue Archer, Mike Bailey and Mike Holter.
Molly leans toward a realistic style painted with transparent watercolor that invite the viewer into warm, happy scenes. She keeps her palette filled with her favorite warm reds, oranges, yellows and browns. Her work has won numerous awards at various shows in Oklahoma and Kansas. Her work is designed to make one feel good about life and cherished memories. If viewers stop to study a piece of her work and then walk away with a contented smile, Molly feels rewarded. She finds inspiration in all of God’s creation whether it’s a furry creature, landscapes, flowers or loved ones.
For now, Molly is content to spend time in her art studio praising God for all the blessings in her life. Whenever she feels overwhelmed by life's challenges and responsibilities, she simply remembers one of her favorite bible verses. Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.”
